Candombe and the Oppression

"Black people" are still demanding equality against racial discrimination and oppression as of the present. Though international laws has been implemented against racial discrimination, there are still a vast majority and profound population of "white people" who still discriminates the blacks. This also occurs to even political refuge countries like Uruguay. The black braved these tyranny through their music of "Candombe". Uruguayan Artist

A lawyer, writer, politician and painter are the known professions of Pedro Figari in his 77 years of living.

He did not started painting in his early years bu he is best known as an early modernist painter and often emphasizes on every day aspects of life in his art pieces. He intended to elevate Uruguayan culture and help his viewers learn to celebrate the their own country.

Candombe. Have you ever heard of this word? If you are not Uruguayan, then you most probably haven't heard of it. Outisde the country it doesn't have much influence.

But that is exactly the reason why this website is made up--to introduce Afro-Uruguayan rhythm to the rest of the world.
